Tenant screening

A reasonable checklist.

  • Government ID + permanent address proof
  • Income proof (salary slips / ITR), proportionate to rent
  • CIBIL / credit check via a background-verification service, if you wish
  • Prior-landlord reference where possible
  • Police tenant-verification, as required locally

Good practice

  • Use a written rental agreement (the 11-month standard); define deposit, notice period and maintenance liability up front.
  • Keep expectations owner-set for now — community-wide rental rules should wait for a formal association vote, not individual opinion.
